Tracking the National Dental Economy
Overall spending on U.S. healthcare rose 5.3% to $3 trillion in 2014, or approximately $9,500 per person. However, spending on dental care in the U.S. grew by only 2.8% to $113.5 billion in 2014, the latest year available from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS).
Adjusted for population growth, U.S. dental spending per capita hit its peak at $361 in 2008. It declined each year thereafter to bottom out at $349 in 2013, before bouncing back slightly to $351 per person in 2014.
