Are you prepared for a cyber attack? Are you sure? Protecting your practice has become harder than ever as cyber threats increase. Here’s what you need to know.

In March, the American Dental Association alerted dental practices to be vigilant for possible internet security risks related to Russia’s attack on Ukraine. Furthermore, in August, the HHS Health Sector Cybersecurity Coordination Center alerted health care organizations to the Karakurt ransomware group, which was responsible for at least four cyberattacks against U.S. health care organizations, including a dental practice. 

According to a 2022 Barracuda report, the smaller the organization, the more likely their employees are to be targets for an attack. That’s because the hackers assume—usually correctly—that smaller organizations have fewer safeguards in place.
