Dental practice busyness has been on a roller coaster ride during 2020. Many practices were reporting record levels of production and collections before the ADA and CDC required them to stop providing elective procedures on March 16, 2020. Production thereafter plummeted until practices reopened in late May and early June. Then, pent-up demand resulted in record-high production levels through the summer months. The fourth quarter has witnessed a small decline in production according to the ADA survey data, with practices averaging around 80% of pre-COVID operating capacity.
